[Tamagotchi List] Do You Have Them All? - A Check List for Tamagotchi Collectors

Seasons Greetings from Honey to everyone!
I have thought of making this for a LONG time and I actually am using one myself from the beginning when I started to have the tamagotchi fever.
In the beginning, I was trying to decide whether a history chart (a chart with tamagotchis and their different release dates) would be better but I thought I would make it simple for all the tamagotchi collectors =)
So here is a chart that will save you when you want to organize your tamagotchi collection.

Feel free to print and use them
but using this chart for your own website/blogs/postings should be done with my permission with my blog address/name added without any changes to it.

There you go =)
I tried my best to organize/categorize them into 5 (technically 10) categories.

Even though I think I put down almost all tamagotchis in the market including some limited editions that can be found easily in the market even now, I did not mention few..
  • other limited edition tamagotchis like JAL editions, and TOYS R US editions [there were too many different JAL/TOYS R US/ARGOS editions - ex. there are akai, entama and uratama in JAL editions with several different designs..] &
  • other bigger tamagotchis such as the ones like tama tama market that were sold only to shops/stores. [The market-tamagotchis were not added as they are rare and were not sold for private use in the beginning]
I also tried to put little descriptions for every tamagotchi. I originally was going to divide everything in to black dot versions and color versions only but I thought being more specific would help more people understand better/faster :D

Please leave comments for feedback and permission - I put in a hard effort to make this chart (did alot of research and thinking to categorize them;D) - so PLEASE do not mis-use/change them!

If you think I did not include your tamagotchi on the chart, and would like to see it, please leave a comment/message to me and I'll make revisions.

EVERYONE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE AN AMAZING NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!
[filled with laughters and tamagotchis ;D]

[I will post MORE once we enter 2013 - cause I will get to have more private/free time to post things on this blog :D]

SO .. What is Tamagotchi??

So, for the beginners who completely missed the 1990s'-2000s' most popular virtual pet series, I can just simply tell you that it is a device where you get to take care of a creature that will go through different growth stages. However, for those who wants more "interesting stories" related to these cyber/virtual pets.... :

Tamagotchi characters from iDL series (released in 2012)
More characters are added as newer versions of tamagotchis are developed :D

Beginning 1: Bandai said that "tamagotchi is a tiny pet from cyberspace who needs your love to survive and grow"

Beggining 2: One Japanese story says that they are little alien creatures from Planet Tamagotchi, who crash landed on earth, and The Professor and his assistant Mikachu found them. The Professor built them little egg shaped protection cases so they could survive on earth, then Mikachu painted some, took them to school and started the Tamagotchi craze...

Same ending : Tamagotchi will always return to its home planet. How well you care for it helps determine how long Tamagotchi will stay on Earth. When it is time for Tamagotchi to return to its home planet, there is nothing you can do. Give your self time to morn your little friend. I am one of many that knows what it's like to lose a Tamagotchi I love. When you have recovered from your loss you can always hatch another.[from mimitchi.com]

(personally find the second beggining is very cute!)

Tamagotchi was first released in Japan by Bandai on November 23rd, 1996 and it's first release in US was on May 1st, 1997. And from then on becuase of its gigantic/historic success, Bandai soon after developed different generations of tamagotchis, and they are continuing to develop newer versions for people to play with! Also, Bandai produced tamagotchi gameboy games, nds (nintendo ds) games, wii games, TV animations (that you can probably watch on youtube) and even movies (they are available in English to watch and they are actually.. pretty fun OTL) !!!!!

Tamagotchi characters from the animation!!
I have been researching on different versions of tamagotchis and I hope that I will be able to share those informations with you. The pictures and information might be from different sites and sources but as all researches take bits from the others, but just consider this blog as a log+basic info sharing space =D

P.S. abit about the tamagotchi planet : [たまごっち星 Tamagotchi Sei]

Tamagotchi Planet - always with zzz face lol
it looks SO tiring doesn't it? lol
Tamagotchi wikia says that its the closest planet to the Earth that supports life. Just like all the buildings and cars on its surface, the planet itself is a Tamagotchi. It is green with large colored areas all over its surface. It has closed eyes and a pink curved mouth with a large drop of drool hanging out of it, as if the planet is sleeping. It also had two short, stubby arms that often hang down away from its body, and two clouds that resemble ears. Tamagotchi Planet is like Earth in many ways.

Intro to My Little Obsession with Tamagotchis/Virtual Pets

If you have been alive during the 1990s, you will know what I will be talking about for SURE. Even if you never had one, you probably would have seen others play with them.

The.. Tamagotchis =_=...

It was a big hit internationally, especially in Asia, North America and England. Among elementary and middle school students, every student had at least one, regardless of their gender and grades, until the early 2000s. I bought tamagotchis, digimons, and .. other virtual pets and ended up with MANY virtual pets. But I just COULD NOT REMEMBER WHERE I PUT THEM! I think I threw them out without thinking about how much I would love to play them again later. Their prices went up really high and they are pretty rare/hard to find in Canada, as most tamagotchis were/are produced in Japan.

Even though I loved all virtual pets, I especially love Bandai's Tamagotchis .. They are the BEST! - The characters and shell designs are cute, and there are so many different versions/generations that you can get. My obsession to collect and play all kinds of tamagotchis resurfaced when I was web-surfing + preparing for my midterms. Then, when I saw how I have been missing on so many different versions of tamagotchis, I could not sleep -_-.. I had dreams of tamagotchi and that tamagotchi song I heard on youtube (I'll try to post the link lol.. it's SO addicting)... it was playing in my head as a BGM for quite awhile..
until my sister went ..: "I think I have one"
I was like ....................... 0_0? ........... What? ...... Come again???..............0_0?

AND YES! SHE ACTUALLY HAD A V2 ENG VERSION TAMAGOTCHI WITH HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halellujah!! I don't think I never had such a moment of excitement that lasted the whole day.... -_-;;; I was feeling sad because my family members and others might think I am being really childish and stupid for wasting so much money on collecting and playing tamagotchis and other virtual pets, but you know what I THINK ?! .. -_-

EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING THEY LOVE/LIKE THAT IS UNIQUE
IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE, AND WHAT YOU DO FOR LIVING, AS LONG AS IT WILL GIVE YOU A BIT OF HAPPINESS YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE.

My obsession might be a short one/ long one, I dont know how long it will last, but I can tell you that by sharing information about tamagotchis I gathered, I want others to be able to find something they like/enjoy, something that will make them happy, and stay happy.

P.S. If anyone have tamagotchis they would like to donate.. I would love to have them;; lol especially if they are in a really good condition and are in my 'wish list' =P
